Canberra Nature Park Information

The Park is home to numerous threatened or rare Australian species like the Button Wrinklewort, the Striped Legless Lizard and the Hooded Robin. Wherever you live in Canberra, there will be a section of the Canberra Nature Park within walking distance. The Park has several graded walks of varying difficulty with some leading to the summit of several mountains such as Mt Majura and Mt Taylor.

Black Mountain Nature Park rests to the west of the Australia National Botanic Gardens, off Clunies-Ross Road. One of the most notable landmarks that dominates all Canberra aerial photos is the Telstra Tower, set at the top of Black Mountain which is 812 metres above sea level. The Australian National University, which attracts students from around the world, has a commanding position between the lake and the mountain.

Canberra Nature Park is great for local bushwalking, photography, bird watching or off-road bike riding.
