With a population of about 304,600, the Central Coast is considered the third largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth largest urban area within Australia. Central Coast Information

Gosford City Council covers an area of 1,028.19 square kilometres, located midway between Sydney and Newcastle, including a moderately densely-populated coastal strip running from the Hawkesbury River northward to Forresters Beach. This area includes the towns of Killcare, MacMasters Beach, Avoca, and Terrigal. This government area also extends inland to include the residential towns of Gosford, Wyoming and Woy Woy.

Wyong Shire Council, on the other hand, is located around the coastal lake system of Budgewoi Lake, Lake Munmorah, and Tuggarah Lake. Wyong is the main administrative centre of this council, whose area also includes many smaller towns and several suburban areas. The coastal strip extends from Bataeu Bay up to Dudgeon, including the towns of The Entrance, Norah Head and Toukley. The lakeside towns and residential areas are Berkeley Vale, Tuggarah, Charmhaven and Kulnara.

The Central Coast climate has a mostly temperate climate, temperatures reaching an average of 27 degrees during the summer months and 17 degrees during the winter months. Due to these mild weather conditions, tourists are attracted to this area and its pristine beaches and waterways, which supply a variety of different activities, including fishing, sailing, kayaking and swimming.
