Turn off the Pacific Motorway and enter a time warp where you may still linger over a coffee while watching the sea birds fishing. This unspoiled region is growing quickly and the visitor is still welcomed with great accommodation and funky restaurants after a hard day surfing and exploring the outstanding region. With its own fishing fleet and boat harbour situated to the northern end of the town, local seafood is a delight!
Like any other seaside village, join the locals swimming, surfing, snorkelling and boating. For anglers, take a day out and experience one of the many fishing charters available. There is a rocky headland protecting the entrance that you can see in aerial photographs of Brunswick Heads, and the estuary also provides great fishing and oyster farms.
Hire a canoe or surf ski or enjoy a picnic at the Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve to the north of the river. The Tyagarah Nature Reserve to the south offers quiet walks along the foreshore. To the north of the River, the golfer will want to spend a day at Ocean Shores which also includes a bowling green.
