Acacia Ridge Information
Acacia Ridge is one of the most important light industrial centres in Brisbane. These aerial views show the many large silver rooves of the Westridge Industrial Park. Set on Bradman Street, there are many companies here, including Quality Turf, servicing the local region. There are many industrial warehouses to lease in the Acacia Ridge Industrial Precinct. Set in amongst these large light industrial areas are a smattering of parks, including Murdoch Circuit on Bradman Street.
White settlers first came to Acacia Ridge in the mid 1800’s with the first school opening in 1869. The Rose and Crown was one of the first industrial buildings in the 1870’s and was a stopping place for the early Cobb & Co coaches on their way to Beaudesert. The very first subdivisions came in the 1880’s while it was not until 1901 that the name Acacia Ridge was used.
In 2008, there are now three primary schools as well as childcare centres operating as up to 41% of residents have children. Most live in post war cottages which were built when the population swelled. Only thirteen kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, there are plenty of shops, places to dine and have takeaway meals. Try the speciality shops on Beaudesert Road or the neighbouring suburb of Sunnybank Hills which also offers many shopping centres.
Brandon Park is the hub for all local sports including league, soccer and netball. There is a local library and many churches with cinemas close by in Sunnybank Hills. Acacia Ridge is easily connected with surrounding suburbs and with quick access to all major arterial roads via Learoyd or Paradise Roads, shown is these aerial photographs.
