Balmoral has a number of quaint shops scattered throughout the suburb and neighbours the trendy Bulimba, with its many international styled restaurants. Take it easy in one of the many sidewalk cafes on nearby Oxford Street and watch the passing parade.

Balmoral High School is located on prime real estate in a leafy part of the Balmoral area and has an extensive international student program in addition to regular curricula programs. Private schools are also well served with Lourdes Hill College on the border of Balmoral and Hawthorne.
Balmoral skyline is dominated by an old water tower in Apex Street. It was converted to a unique private home in 1992 – after it was no longer needed for its original purpose.
