Banyo Aerial Photos

As seen in these stunning aerial photographs, the Brisbane suburb of Banyo has quick access to Moreton Bay and its surrounding beaches. Because of Moreton and Stradbroke Islands, the Brisbane beaches are sheltered, with the nearest surf beaches an hour or so drive away. Add to Description →

Banyo Information

Banyo is close to some of the best fishing, sporting and entertainment venues in Brisbane.

In Banyo, take some time to play a round at Virginia Golf Course where you may dine in style after your game at the Bistro.

Seen from the Gateway Motorway, the Albert Bishop Park is one of the main local sporting arenas where rugby league is played. The junior competition is played here as well as soccer. Take a stroll around these great grounds or for a splendid day at the races, join the locals at the Eagle Farm Racecourse. Soak up the atmosphere, the excitement and the fashions.

One of the icons of Banyo is the Golden Circle Cannery – where for over a hundred years pineapples and other fruits have been canned and made into juice for export and for sale in Australia.

The name Banyo is believed to be an aboriginal word meaning small hill or ridge.

During the Second World War Banyo was the main general depot for troops in Brisbane, due to its closeness to all major transport routes.

Banyo also is the home of the Catholic University – which originally started its life as a seminary for Catholic priests. The main imposing building is set on 40 hectares of prime Banyo real estate.
