Bongaree Brisbane Queensland Aerial Photos

Photo of Bongaree, , Australia

Bribie Island is one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets. From these stunning aerial photos, you will see that it has both still water and surf swimming. Drive over the Pumicestone Passage via the Bribie Island Bridge and turn right at the roundabout into Welsby Parade. Bongaree is named after a respected tribal chief who liked to dress in a general’s uniform to welcome new people to the colony. Add to Description →

Bongaree Information

There are three main villages on Bribie with Bongaree at the southern end of the Island. Cross over the Welsby Bridge and continue into Bongaree where you will find lots of interesting things to do. Bongaree has a number of quaint shops and interesting restaurants to while away the hours.

Pay your respects to the soldiers who served in the Vietnam War in Vietnam’s Veterans Park. Track through Buckley’s Hole Park and spend some time in the bird hide there. Fishing from the beach at South Point, overlooking Moreton Bay, is always wonderful. Red Beach, on the southern end of Bribie Island, offers some spectacular beach walking without the clutter of civilization. After a long day enjoying this fabulous area, take pleasure in dining at the local RSL Club for a gratifying meal.
