Caboolture Information
This small town, just 50 kilometres from the centre of Brisbane, is blossoming. Today, it is experiencing a rapid growth in modern dwellings as Brisbane spreads its population to surrounding areas.
These wonderful aerial photos of Caboolture show that while farming is still of major importance, the town is rapidly becoming a centre for retail, sport, arts and crafts. It offers residents all that is to be had in a major city while being close to fabulous beaches such as Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast. The Caboolture River is another playground with its good navigable waters and boat ramps.
The Town Square in tree lined King Street is a focal point, offering a meeting place for the people. Another wonderful area that is available for public use is The Centenary Lakes Park. Surrounded and accessed by Morayfield Road and Riverview and Elliott Streets, the Park has many smaller areas such as Lion’s Park and the Peace Gardens open for bookings such as weddings. It also offers many sporting facilities such as tennis, netball, rugby fields, a velodrome and athletics tracks.
The Alexander Barr Sporting Complex and the Caboolture Showgrounds on Beerburrum Road is the place for local horse enthusiasts. Here, there are plentiful stables, a one kilometre course, sand arenas and warm up areas.
On Matthew Terrace, the Caboolture Railway Station offers travel on the tilt train to Rockhampton, the travel train to Cairns as well as all local stations to Brisbane and Gympie. The Caboolture Bypass is now open and the D’Aguilar Highway bridges the railway line, major roads and the Showgrounds as it comes off from the Bruce Highway and Old Gympie Road.
