Cleveland Information
Cleveland’s first public house, the Grand View Hotel was built in 1852. Today it is Queensland’s oldest licensed hotel. The Lighthouse on Cleveland point was built in 1864. In contrast, Raby Bay and Marina was completed in 1984 making this area a very popular area for those who enjoy the boating lifestyle that Moreton Bay can offer.
Overlooking Toondah Harbour, the shores of Cleveland oversee a number of Islands. North Stradbroke Island is the largest of these and access to this is via ferry from Phelan Street. Peel Island was a quarantine station from 1873-1890. In 1907 it became a leper colony. Today it is a heritage-listed site.
Cassim Island and Coochiemudlo Island are also visible from Cleveland. They can be accessed from nearby Victoria Point.
