From the plane, you can see the Captain Cook Highway wending its way north to Port Douglas, hugging the coastline with its many unspoiled beaches and rocky headlands, the first one being Machans Beach. Trinity Inlet, running into Trinity Bay is bounded by Ellie Point to the north and Bessie Point to the south. This Inlet is a fisherman’s paradise, with over forty species to be found in this wonderful calm water.
Once on land, Aeroglen is one suburb not to miss. Visit the Mount Whitfield Conservation Park, where the natural rainforest is protected. Climb the walking tracks to the summit of Mt Lumley Hill to see another view of this wonderful playground. Accessed through Collins Avenue, which is next door to the Flecker Botanic Gardens, the Park offers views to the Barron River, the northern beaches and to the airport itself.
