Aerial photos of Barron show a largely semi-rural area with a burgeoning growth. Just ten minutes from Cairns, it has ready access to all that this magnificent region has to offer. Spend a morning at Mount Whitfield Conservation Park where the natural rainforest is protected. The walking tracks will lead you to the peak of Mt Lumley Hill for an extensive panorama.
Take a trip to one of the coral islands that litter the Coral Sea, snorkelling and scuba diving to your heart’s content. Ride the aerial skyway over the tropical rainforest to the Atherton Tableland for some breathtaking views of the tree canopy. Be astounded by the waterfall on the Barron River. Learn about the animals that live here, fish in the various lakes that abound, take in an Aboriginal performance or chill out over a coffee with some friends.
