Access to Dunk Island is either by air or water. Flights are daily to the island from Cairns. Water access is by either water taxi or ferry from Mission Beach which is about 7 kilometres (or 15 minutes away).
Accommodation on Dunk Island is of three calibres from budget to luxury. However, if luxury and isolation is on your agenda, nearby Bedarra Island is a must. Camping permits are issued for Dunk Island as well as two others, Wheeler Island and Commbe Island in the Family Islands.
From the leeward beaches (where the resort is situated), Southern Mission Beach is clearly visible, and while the mainland is beautiful, it is more likely that your attention will wonder to the beauty surrounding you.
Dunk Island is the home of the Ulysses Butterfly, an artist’s retreat, horse riding on the beach and some of the best game fishing in the area.
