The residential portion of this region is located at the base of the Malbon Thompson Range and includes the Trinity Forest Reserve. East Trinity has at its centre the mountain Glen Boughton.
Aerial photos of East Trinity from the banks of Trinity Outlet looking toward Cairns clearly show the Trinity Bay Wharf, Convention Centre and Cairns Casino. The Reef Fleet Terminal, which is where many of the day trip boats to the Great Barrier Reef leave from, is also located at Trinity Bay Wharf. Other sightseeing locations in the area include Undersea World, The Pier and Marlin Marina.
