Flattery Harbour in far North Queensland is situated 200 kilometres north of Cairns. Aerial photographs of Flattery Harbour clearly show the sand dunes and ridges as well as the surrounding pristine rainforest, and crystal clear azure water. Cape Flattery is also known for its wide sandy beaches, mangroves in sheltered foreshores and rocky outcrops. The untamed beauty of this part of Cape York is unparalleled.
Located just off shore of Flattery Harbour are coral reefs and seagrass beds, although dugongs are not regularly seen in this area. Prawn trawlers are regularly seen fishing in this part of the Coral Sea, through to Lookout Point.
