Coolangatta Information
These wonderful aerial photographs of Coolangatta and its surroundings show what a fabulous holiday destination this is. Surf is up at Kirra, Rainbow and Coolangatta beaches. The Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club is on the famous Greenmount Beach. Laze on the white sands; try surfboarding, kitesurfing, or parasailing.
Take a walk around Snapper Rocks, Point Danger to the Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse, the first in the world to experiment with laser lights, unfortunately without success. See the Point Danger Air Sea Rescue base where the searches are based. Remember to swim between the flags and help the lifesavers.
Just to the south of Coolangatta, take a swim at Duranbah Beach. This fabulous surfing beach is just to the north of the Tweed River mouth. Rainbow Beach is a short walk round the Headland from Coolangatta.
Stay at one of the wide ranges of accommodation, from backpackers to five star hotels and apartments. Hire a car and explore the Gold Coast Hinterland, with its mountains, rainforest and wildlife. Visit the Currumbin Sanctuary to feed the local parrots in the thousands. You may even adopt an animal!
