Tweed Heads Information
Snapper Rocks was once another great fishing spot. Since the Council pumped the sand out of the river mouth, it has become one of the best surfing places with its long rides of over a kilometre on the perfect day! It is the ideal place for the avid surfer.
D-bah, or Duranbah Beach, is another popular local surfing beach on the northern shores of the river. It is host to professional surfing competitions as the waves are often at their best here when others are not. Rainbow Beach is a popular spot for families with its large sandy beach.
Take a stroll along the boardwalk to the Point Danger viewing platform. Here you will get an overall picture of the area, just as in these magnificent aerial photos. Look to the south west and see Mount Warning, named by Captain James Cook. Below you, you will see the Captain Cook Memorial, commemorating this visionary sea captain.
Tweed Heads is a wonderful place for surfing and fishing fans. The night life is also excellent with many pubs and clubs to while away the night.
