Bargara Information

Surrounded by sugar cane farms, Bargara is renowned for the Mon Repos Conservation Park where locals and tourists alike come to see the marine turtle rookery. Turtles sometimes nest right on Kelly’s, Nielson or Rifle Range Beaches! The Bargara Beach Hotel even has a Turtle Play Park for the children while adults relax over a meal with the local wines.

One of the most pleasurable places to stay in Bargara is at Rifle Range Beach, at the mouth of the Rifle Range Creek. There is accommodation here for all choices, all within a short walk to the glorious beach. Rise early to watch the sunrise over the blue waters of the Pacific. Windermere Road has more accommodation and great shopping. Play a round of golf at the Bargara Golf Course.

Take a whale watching cruise to see the massive Humpback whale in its annual migration or the Minke or Southern Right. Spend some time at Lady Elliott or Lady Musgrave Islands, go snorkelling or diving in these pristine waters. The area is a fisherman’s paradise!

These unique aerial photographs show the natural beauty that surrounds Bargara, a natural wonderland for those who like to hike, swim, go boating, fish, or just laze around in Queensland’s wonderful weather. The view from The Hummock may be nearly as good!
