Teach the kids to fish, watch for hump back whales or go snorkelling or scuba diving over the reef. Take a charter to the deeper waters and fish these amazing azure waters. Walk the turtle trail or hike the Heritage Trail from the Sea Esplanade to Elliott Heads. Picnic in the Jack Strathdee Memorial Park or visit the summer playground of Hervey Bay directly to the south.
For a caravan or camping holiday, stay at the Burnett Heads Lighthouse Caravan Park. Let the kids enjoy their stay, cycling and walking the foreshore and enjoying the safe swimming. There is also a motel at the Burnett Heads Hotel. Resort style accommodation is found at Bargara and a plethora of accommodation is to be found to the south at Hervey Bay.
The Bundaberg Port Marina is one nautical mile up the Burnett River. Since it opened in 1998, it is fast becoming a major port for international visitors to Australia. For four consecutive years it has cleared more traffic than any other port of entry. Its all weather, deep entrance is a contributing factor and the Coral Coast is a wonderfully exhilarating destination to sail.
