These magnificent aerial photographs of the world renowned Adelaide Oval will have any cricket fan reminiscing over many national and international games played here. The Oval is one of the most pleasant Test cricket grounds in the world. At the northern end, St Peters Cathedral rises above the graceful Edwardian scoreboard while the southern end rises to the skyline of the Adelaide CBD. The South Australian cricket team, the Redbacks, call The Oval their home. They vie with the other Australian States each year for the Pura Cup. The Scorpions, the women’s team, is also based here and they compete in the Women’s National Cricket League.
Rugby League and Rugby Union are also played here. The Oval also opens its grounds to large concerts.
While in Adelaide, take the time to inspect the grounds on a tour which are run at 10am Monday to Friday. The Oval is centrally located on War Memorial Drive and is surrounded by many hotels and other accommodation. It is also less than twenty minutes commute from the Adelaide International Airport.
The Oval is close to some great Adelaide attractions. Spend some time in the Botanic Gardens, exploring the tranquillity of the large grounds. After dining at your leisure, visit the Adelaide Casino for some gaming and light entertainment.
