Victoria Information
Victoria is one of Australia's more popular tourist destinations, providing tourists with things to see and do across many different fields. Visit the Heide Museum of Modern Art, experience the snow slopes of Victoria's snowfields, enjoy amazing flora and fauna in one of the many National Parks and wildlife reserves, come into contact with Aboriginal Victoria or experience all the CBD of Melbourne has to offer with shopping, many local markets, exquisite wineries and dining experiences.
This southern state is also home to many natural landmarks. The Twelve Apostles, which are located just off shore of the Port Campbell National Park, and attracts many tourists each year, eager to view their incredible natural beauty. Fairy Penguins are also seen on Phillip Island, just south of Melbourne, and are considered to be Melbourne's greatest tourist attraction. Sovereign Hill is an interactive museum, depicting Ballarat's first ten years after the discovery of gold in 1851 and is just another one of Melbourne's popular tourist destinations for both children and adults alike.
Victoria shares its borders with the Murray River (which runs along part of the border between Victoria and New South Wales) to the north, with South Australia to the west and shares the shortest land border in Australia with Tasmania. Its climate is also very varied despite its small size, with weather conditions differing between the north-west and the coastal areas. As Victoria is located on the southernmost point of mainland Australia, its climate is generally cooler and wetter. In the north-western area of the state, the weather is often semi-arid and hot during the summer months while along the coastal regions, temperatures are usually lower and the weather is temperate and cool.
